Pupil Premium Funding is in addition to the funding received in the main school budget. Schools receive funding based on the number of pupils who are eligible for free school meals (FSM). It is intended to address inequalities between children eligible for FSM and their peers, by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.
The DfE expects all schools to report on their use of the Pupil Premium and its impact.
